Universal for iPhone and iPad
Check your store region and verify the app before purchasing. Price, universal purchase availability, and system requirements are as listed on the App Store page.
Check your region first
Storefront and account region
The product page links to the US storefront, but whether you can make a purchase also depends on the account used for Media & Purchases.
Shadowrocket is not available in the mainland China storefront. If you can’t find the app, first check your Apple ID’s country or region rather than repeatedly changing your search terms. The storefront content shown by the App Store depends on your account’s store region. Your device language, current location, and the storefront URL opened in a browser do not determine your account’s store region.
On your device, check Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Country/Region. Depending on your system, you may need to select “View Account” and verify your identity first. This shows the account used for purchases. If you use different accounts for iCloud and Media & Purchases, check the account shown under Media & Purchases.
To change your region, use the “Country/Region” page mentioned above. Whether you can make the change depends on factors such as your account balance, active subscriptions, Family Sharing settings, and payment information. Follow the instructions shown by the system. Read the on-screen details first; a region change is not guaranteed, and you shouldn’t change your account details just to get a different search result.
The button on this page opens the specified App Store product page; it does not change your Apple ID region. If the app details appear in your browser but the App Store says the app is unavailable in your region, check your account region and the message shown. If the message concerns payment or account verification, resolve it in your account settings. There’s no need to change Shadowrocket’s connection settings.
Identify the correct app
Three ways to verify Shadowrocket
The name helps you find the app; the developer, official icon, and app ID confirm its identity. Check all three.
IDENTITY / 01
Developer name
Shadow Launch Technology Limited
Open the product details and check the developer or seller name character by character. Don’t rely only on the search result title, keywords, or brief text beside the icon; a similar name doesn’t prove it’s the same app. If the developer name doesn’t match, stop the purchase and return to the product page linked from this manual to verify it.
IDENTITY / 02
Official icon
The official Shadowrocket icon features a rocket outlined in blue and purple on a white background, matching the official icon in this site’s header. The icon is only one part of the check: a similar outline, color scheme, or nickname isn’t enough to identify the app. On the same product page, also verify the developer and app ID instead of relying on the search thumbnail.
IDENTITY / 03
Fixed app ID
932747118
The App Store link on this page ends with id932747118. The app ID is a more reliable way to identify the product than its position in search results. Once in the App Store, also check the name and developer. If the page opens a different app, return to the original product page instead of following similar-name suggestions.
Shadowrocket is also commonly called “Little Rocket” in Chinese-speaking contexts, but a nickname does not verify an app’s identity in the store. To distinguish the genuine app from similarly named or imitative apps, check in this order: product details → developer → icon → app ID. Search ranking, review count, and promotional text on the page are no substitute for these checks.
After verifying the app, check the price button, compatibility, and purchase prompts. If you’ve already purchased it, the product page may show a cloud download icon or “Open” instead of a price. First check whether the app is already installed and whether the purchase belongs to the current account. You don’t need to repeatedly sign out and back in just to make the price button appear.
DEVICE / 01
Get started on iPhone
Purchase and install through the App Store before setting up the client. System requirements are as listed on the App Store page.
Check your device and payment prompts before purchase
On the iPhone App Store product page, expand the compatibility details and confirm that your system meets the requirements. After verifying the developer and app ID, follow the displayed price and purchase confirmation steps. The amount charged, currency, and payment verification depend on your current storefront and account. The US price shown here is only a reference; the final confirmation screen has the current details.
Keep your device connected to a working network and make sure there’s enough storage during the download. If progress stalls, check whether the App Store requires you to verify payment details, accept account terms, or confirm your identity again, then check your network and available storage. Store download errors are unrelated to server settings in the client. Before installation is complete, there’s no need to adjust Global Routing or DNS.
Understand installation, importing, and VPN authorization
When Shadowrocket opens for the first time, installation is complete, but connection details aren’t automatically set up. Use your own subscription or server details; get subscription links from your service provider. Follow the tutorial to add or import them in Home, then check the selected item. A successful purchase doesn’t include a connection service.
The first time you try to connect, the system may ask permission to add a VPN configuration and require your device passcode or biometric authentication. This authorizes the system to manage the client’s connection configuration; it isn’t another purchase prompt. Continue only if the request was triggered by Shadowrocket that you just opened. If you cancel for now, follow the app and system prompts when you’re ready to connect.
After authorization, select the appropriate Global Routing option for your configuration. Config, Proxy, and Direct refer to configuration, proxy, and direct routing. See the official quick-start guide for step-by-step instructions. A VPN status shown by the system only indicates that the connection configuration is active. To confirm the connection works as expected, check the selected server, rules, and request results.
DEVICE / 02
iPad purchases and layout
The purchase is tied to your account; check the interface layout and configuration data separately on each device.
A single purchase with the same Apple ID lets you get Shadowrocket on both iPhone and iPad through your purchase history. Before you start, confirm that Media & Purchases on your iPad uses the account that made the original purchase, then look for the app in your App Store account and purchase history. Universal purchase availability and system requirements are as listed on the App Store page. Don’t assume the purchase accounts match just because both devices show the same iCloud name.
On iPad, the larger display gives you more room to view lists and settings. The layout may change with orientation or window size. When following this manual, use labels such as Home, Config, and Settings to find the right section; the position of every button doesn’t have to match the iPhone layout. The first connection also requires VPN authorization when prompted by the system.
Your purchase history lets you get the client, but it won’t automatically transfer subscriptions to another device. After installation, check whether the configuration you need is available. If it isn’t, import your own saved configuration or get a subscription link from your service provider. Even with sync enabled, check the selected server, configuration file, and Global Routing. A completed installation doesn’t mean your data has been transferred.
Keep purchases and data separate
New devices, reinstalling, and restoring purchases
First restore your purchase history, then restore your own connection details. Each step serves a different purpose.
Find apps purchased with the same account
On your new device, open App Store → Account → Purchased, find Shadowrocket, and download it again. Menu names may vary slightly across system versions. If your account page shows “Apps” or a list of purchases, use the corresponding section to find your purchase history. Sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase to restore the app at no extra charge.
If the App Store still shows a price, don’t confirm another payment right away. Check that you’re using the correct Media & Purchases account, whether the app is hidden, and whether the current store region matches the original purchase. Your device’s iCloud account isn’t necessarily the account used for the purchase; check your purchase history.
If the app is in your hidden purchases, look for it in the relevant account management section. If you’re not sure which account made the purchase, check your own purchase history and the store message first. Family Sharing eligibility is also subject to the App Store page and family purchase settings; another family member’s purchase doesn’t guarantee that you can get the app.
Restore subscriptions and local settings
Getting the app again doesn’t restore all local data. Before deleting it, confirm that you have a usable backup of your configurations, rules, and server details, and that any sync features you need have actually completed. For configurations saved only on your old device, check how to transfer them while that device is still available.
After installing the app on your new device, import your own subscription or server details, then check the configuration file and Global Routing. Get subscription links from your service provider, and keep any access credentials in them secure. Don’t post a complete link in a public comment or screenshot when troubleshooting a purchase issue.
Finally, follow the system prompts to authorize the VPN configuration and check the selected server, rules, and connection results. If the client has been restored but the server connection fails, troubleshoot the configuration and network rather than buying the app again. See Settings reference to check related options.
Keep the two costs separate
Price and one-time purchase
US reference price: $2.99. Other storefronts display local currency; the final amount appears on the purchase confirmation screen.
Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app that you buy once through the App Store; there’s no monthly fee for the app itself. The US price is $2.99 as a reference. Currency, tax display, and final price may vary by storefront. Check the price and purchase confirmation for the store linked to your account. The reference price on this page is not a fixed charge for every region.
If you already have a subscription from a service provider, the client imports its details, connects according to the configuration, and applies rules. Subscription validity, server availability, billing, and expiration dates are part of the provider’s service and can’t be determined from your App Store purchase status. Even after buying the client, you may be unable to connect if your service has expired or its settings have changed. Handle these issues separately.
Likewise, a purchase doesn’t automatically create rules that work for every network. After installation, check your server details, Config, and Global Routing. When updating a subscription, use a valid source you already have. Don’t confuse App Store updates with subscription updates: the former update the client; the latter update connection details.
App updates and purchase history
The client is updated through the App Store. You can manage automatic App Store updates in your device settings or check for updates in your account. Back up important configurations before updating, then check commonly used options against the interface shown afterward. Refer to the App Store version history for specific release details; this manual doesn’t list fixed version numbers or release dates.
To review a transaction or request help with a purchase, use the relevant options provided by the App Store, such as your account and purchase history. Eligibility and outcomes are determined by Apple’s displayed policies and decisions. This official manual explains how to verify, install, and set up the app; it doesn’t replace account reviews, payment confirmation, or support for connection services from your provider.
Download and purchase FAQ
Troubleshoot the step where the issue occurs: store, account, device, or client configuration.
Why can’t I find Shadowrocket in the App Store?
Shadowrocket is not available in the mainland China storefront. Your Apple ID’s country or region determines which store content you can see. Check it under Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Country/Region. Changing regions is subject to Apple’s account requirements; opening the US product page won’t change your account’s region.
The product page opens, but the download won’t complete. What should I check first?
Note the App Store message, then check the account used for Media & Purchases, the store region, payment status, available device storage, and network connection. System requirements are as listed on the App Store page. If you’ve already purchased the app, check your purchase history before paying again.
Do I have to pay again when I get a new iPhone or reinstall the app?
On the App Store, sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase, then find Shadowrocket under Account → Purchased to download it again at no extra charge. Your purchase history and configuration data are separate. On a new device, restore a backed-up configuration or import your own subscription and server details.
Can I use the same purchase on iPad?
You can use the purchase history for the same Apple ID to get Shadowrocket on iPhone and iPad. Check device compatibility before installing. Universal purchase availability and system requirements are as listed on the App Store page. Your purchase history does not transfer configuration data.
Where can I get Shadowrocket for Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Vision?
The compatibility section on the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check availability in the App Store on your target device. Universal purchase availability and system requirements are as listed on the App Store page; the App Store is still the only place to get the app.
The app opens in English. How do I follow the instructions?
This manual keeps interface labels such as Home, Add Server, Config, and Settings in English so you can match them to the app. In Global Routing, Config, Proxy, and Direct refer to configuration, proxy, and direct routing. If your system offers app-specific language settings, check the available options in system settings.
